Where we remove asbestos siding

Burnt Bridge Siding Removal covers Clark County and the Interstate 5 towns of Cowlitz County. The list is in order of how much cement asbestos siding each area actually has, which tracks the share of housing built before 1980, not the drive time from our shop.

  1. Oldest housing in Clark County: Hough, Arnada, Carter Park, Shumway and Lincoln are 1900s to 1930s houses, and a large share were re-clad in cement asbestos shingle over the original wood in the 1940s and 50s.

    ZIP 98660, 98663

  2. Wartime and immediate postwar housing: the Kaiser shipyard years put thousands of small 1940s houses in Fruit Valley, Rose Village, and Bagley Downs, and cement asbestos shingle was the standard budget cladding of that decade.

    ZIP 98660, 98661

  3. Unincorporated Clark County postwar suburb along Highway 99: 1950s and 60s ranches and ramblers, the decades when cement asbestos shingle and flat board were sold as a maintenance free upgrade.

    ZIP 98665, 98685

  4. The older cores along Fourth Plain and Covington Road are 1950s to early 1970s ranches sitting among newer subdivisions; the median year built reads 1997 only because the surrounding tracts are new.

    ZIP 98662, 98682

  5. Mill town core: the grid around downtown and the paper mill is 1920s to 1960s housing where cement asbestos shingle was common; Prune Hill and the newer hills skew the citywide median to 2002 but hold little of this material.

    ZIP 98607

  6. Mill housing near the Pendleton woolen mill and the river: 1940s to 60s houses on the older grid south of E Street are the fit, while the east side tracts that drive the 1998 median are not.

    ZIP 98671

  7. Planned mill city laid out in 1923 with a median year built of 1966: the Old West Side, the Highlands, and the streets around Lake Sacajawea are the densest pre-1970 housing in Cowlitz County, still under SWCAA rules.

    ZIP 98632

  8. Oldest median year built on our list (1959): railroad and river town stock from the 1920s to 50s on both sides of the Cowlitz, with cement asbestos shingle on a high share of the smaller houses.

    ZIP 98626

  9. Old downtown west of the freeway along the Lewis River is 1940s to 60s housing with cement shingle; the 2001 median comes from the newer east side and does not describe the old town.

    ZIP 98674

  10. Lowest fit on the list and included for its historic core only: the blocks around Pioneer Street above Lake River and the old farmhouses and outbuildings on the surrounding roads; the subdivisions that put the median at 2013 have no asbestos siding.

    ZIP 98642

Not on the list? Battle Ground, Salmon Creek, Felida, and La Center are mostly built after 1975 and have little cement asbestos siding, but the older farmhouses out there do. Call (360) 838-1233 and we will quote it.
