Washougal has had a working mill since 1912, and the small houses on the grid between the mill, the river, and E Street were built for the people who worked there, mostly from the 1940s through the 1960s. Those are the houses with cement asbestos shingle, usually on one story with a short gable, and often with a matching shed or garage out back.
The east side of town is different. The subdivisions out past the high school and up the hill went in during the 1990s and 2000s, and they have no asbestos siding at all. If you are looking at a house in that part of Washougal and the inspector mentions transite, ask for a lab result before you believe it.
Older Washougal houses are a short drive for us and sit on quiet streets with room to park a trailer, which keeps them at the low end of the table. Burnt Bridge Siding Removal handles the lab sample, the SWCAA filing, and the removal, and we hand your siding crew a clean wall with the paperwork done.
Working near the river
River lots along the Washougal can be damp and the ground plastic needs to be weighted down, never just laid flat. We also keep wash water out of the bank. Small details, but they are what the agency asks about if a neighbor calls.
